East Oxford Community Centre – Dry Lined System
A Sustainable, Cultural Hub for Future Generations.
Oxford City Council has redeveloped East Oxford Community Centre to create a ‘cultural hub’ which can be put to good use for generations to come!
Redevelopment was desperately needed to make it fully useable again as the site’s ageing buildings were deteriorating over time. One part of the building even had to be completely demolished back in 2019 on health safety grounds.
In addition to the community centre itself, the development as a whole includes 12 energy efficient flats right next to this central hub for the local community.
There will be a multitude of different community groups now based at the community centre, including – East Oxford Community Association, Fusion Arts, Film Oxford, Oxford Chinese Community and Advice Centre, BK Luwo, AKCHI, Green Print, The Oxford Action Resource Centre. Regular activities range from yoga to lindy hop to Friday prayer.
The Dry Lined Internal Wall System
The insulation system used on this particular project uses Pavadry, a breathable composite product combining wood fibre with OSB board. These boards are vapour permeable, hygroscopic and have capillary characteristics. The main focus of this system is to maintain the breathability of the wall and limit the risk of interstitial condensation, fabric moisture and mould problems, which are all common symptoms where conventional internal insulation materials with vapour barriers and non-breathing systems are used.
Pavadry delivers an energy-efficient, high-performing insulation.
Internal Wall Insulation Dry Lined
This effective insulation system controls the moisture risk associated with IWI by providing active moisture control through absorption and redistribution of moisture within a wood fibre board and integral mineral layer.
