High density sheep’s wool insulation for maximum thermal and acoustic performance
Thermafleece UltraWool is a higher density natural sheep’s wool insulation manufactured from 75% British sheep’s wool and 25% recycled polyester fibres. It has been specifically developed to deliver excellent thermal performance where insulation depth is limited, while also providing the highest level of acoustic performance within the Thermafleece range.
With a density of 31 kg/m³ and a thermal conductivity of just 0.035 W/mK, UltraWool is ideal for wall, floor and roof applications where both energy efficiency and sound reduction are important.
Research has shown that combining 75% British sheep’s wool with recycled polyester fibres provides better overall performance than products containing a higher percentage of wool alone. This carefully developed blend offers the natural moisture buffering benefits of wool, together with improved resilience, durability and long-term thermal performance.
Thermafleece UltraWool is pleasant to handle and can be installed without gloves or protective clothing. Although the product is non-irritant to the skin, eyes and respiratory system, a dust mask is recommended when working in enclosed areas such as loft spaces.
To maintain the moisture buffering properties of the insulation, Thermafleece UltraWool should be used within breathable construction systems and may be installed alongside vapour permeable membranes where appropriate. Packs should be stored under cover, kept clear of the ground and protected from prolonged exposure to sunlight and excessive moisture before installation.

Cutting Thermafleece UltraWool
UltraWool can be torn by hand for quick installation. However, where a cleaner or more accurate cut is required, the “Roll and Cut” method is recommended.

Roll and Cut Method
Cutting to Length
Roll the insulation tightly across its width. Measure and mark the required length, then cut cleanly through the rolled insulation using an insulation saw or scalloped-edge knife. This produces a neat, square edge.
Cutting to Width
Roll the insulation tightly along its length and secure it if necessary. Measure and mark the required width before cutting through the full roll using an insulation saw or knife. This method provides a much cleaner finish than attempting to cut the insulation while it is laid flat.
