Sisalwool loftroll, is an eco-friendly and carbon-neutral insulation, offers exceptional performance. It is manufactured from recycled wool and sisal, ensuring safety during handling without causing skin irritation due to the absence of harmful chemicals. The insulation’s vapor permeability facilitates the passage of moisture, significantly reducing the risk of trapped moisture damaging the building fabric.
Suitable for both new and retrofit projects, including historic buildings, Sisalwool loftroll is ideally applied between joists or over joists in loft applications. While flexible insulation batts can be used in loft floor applications, they are less preferable due to air leakage. Sisalwool loftroll’s roll format reduces abutments and minimizes opportunities for heat to escape if the insulation is disturbed in the future.
Benefits of Sisalwool
Like most of our natural fibre insulations Sisalwool offers more than excellent thermal performance.
- Thermal Mass: Sisalwool loftroll boasts a density of 40kg/m3, making it denser than your average insulation material. This feature helps prevent summertime overheating and contributes to consistent temperatures within buildings.
- Sustainable Material: Sisalwool is crafted from natural sisal fibers sourced from the agave sisalana plant. This plant is renewable and biodegradable, aligning with sustainability goals by reducing reliance on non-renewable resources and lessening environmental impact.
- Acoustic Performance: Sisalwool provides remarkable acoustic dampening performance, enhancing the overall quality of life in homes. When combined with a dense external insulation board the overal acoustic performance far exceeds conventional thermal envelopes.
- Moisture Regulation: Thanks to their natural properties, sisal fibers effectively regulate moisture levels by absorbing and releasing moisture as needed. This capability of sisalwool loftroll insulation aids in managing moisture within buildings, thereby reducing the risk of mold and mildew growth while maintaining indoor air quality.
- Non-Toxic and Allergen-Free: Sisalwool insulation is typically devoid of harmful chemicals and allergens, ensuring a safe and healthy indoor environment. It emits no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or other pollutants, promoting cleanliness and comfort in living or working spaces.
