Hemp Block Closed Cladding System

This system is an extremely high performing wall build up utilising the best sustainable insulation materials.

This system can insulated between studs with a flexible insulation such as Pavaflex wood fibre or IndiTherm hemp insulation and externally finished with timber or masonry cladding. The depth of stud and the thickness of block can be varied to suit the brief. This build up combines the speed of timber frame construction with the exceptionally high thermal mass of hempcrete blocks for year round comfort.

Passivhaus standards are achievable with the combination of hemp/wood fibre insulation coupled with the extra thermal mass from the Hempcrete blocks.

Sheathing board – ISOLAIR MULTI – EJOT STR H (2 per board to pin in place, 40mm min embedment) – HECO TOPIX PLUS (6 per sqm, fix through batten into stud, 40mm min embedment)
Stud insulation – PAVAFLEX / INDITHERM / PAVATEXTIL P / UNIVERCELL + / SHEEPWOOL

Optional airtightness and support layer – DB3.5 membrane or OSB3 racking board (seal all junctions PAVAFIX AIRTIGHTNESS TAPE
HEMP BLOCKS – secured to timber frame with stainless steel timber frame ties
8mm BAUMIT RK38 lime plaster base coat with BAUMIT STARTEX embedded mesh
3mm BAUMIT RK70N lime plaster finish coat
