Baumit RK38 is a cement free, natural white lime plaster for internal use. It is suitable for use on all types of masonry and roughcast concrete in all internal areas. This includes domestic kitchens and bathrooms. Suitable as a base-coat and plain finish topcoat in a two coat plaster system, or as a base coat to receive decorative topcoats, skimming plaster and paints.

What is BAUMIT Klima RK 38 Lime Plaster?
BAUMIT Klima RK 38 Lime Plaster is a pure lime, cement-free plaster that is natural white in colour and designed for internal use. It is factory prepared as a dry powder and conforms to EN 998-1 standards for lime plasters.
Where can RK 38 Lime Plaster be used?
RK 38 is intended for interior wall and ceiling applications where a breathable, natural plaster is required. It can be applied manually or by machine as both a basecoat and a finish coat to produce a fine textured finish.
How do I mix and prepare RK 38 Lime Plaster?
To prepare the plaster:
• Empty the dry powder into clean water.
• Mix using a hand mixer or suitable render machine until lump-free and creamy.
• Leave to stand for approximately 5 minutes and remix before application.
• What is the working time of this lime plaster?
• Once mixed, RK 38 lime plaster has a working time of around 1.5 hours. Do not remix material that has already started to set.
What thickness should be applied?
• Recommended thicknesses are:
• Basecoat: Minimum 10 mm, typical 15 mm and maximum 20 mm per coat.
• Multiple coats may be used to achieve up to 30 mm total thickness, provided each layer is at least 10 mm.
Can RK 38 be used as a topcoat?
Yes. RK 38 can be used as a topcoat plaster, applied over compatible basecoats such as MC55 W or RK70 N. When used as a finish, minimum thickness is 3 mm and the surface is rubbed with a sponge float to achieve a smooth finish.
Is RK 38 suitable for tile fixing or insulation boards?
No. It is not suitable as an adhesive or basecoat for tiles or insulation boards such as StarTherm Nature due to its lower mechanical strength.

How much coverage does a bag of RK 38 provide?
A 35 kg bag typically yields about 1.8 m² at 15 mm thickness as a basecoat, and 8.9 m² at 3 mm thickness as a topcoat.
