The Climate Challenge College is based in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, and is a brand-new learning centre offering education and practical skills in the green economy.
A couple of our team members took a visit to the college to give a presentation, which they found very engaging. The college was aiming to give their students a broad introduction to retrofit systems for existing houses and insulating.
We were also accompanied by the site field engineer from Baumit, who ran a basic training course demonstrating the fixing of the wood fibre and plinth boards as an EWI system with the lime plaster finishing coats. They all had a go at applying the lime plaster onto the wood fibre using a notched trowel board to comb the plaster before placing the mesh.
Why…
– because it removes any air pockets
– it makes the wall completely flush with the same thickness
– then they can place the mesh over the top
The Climate Challenge College have also now invited Unity Lime to become a member of their advisory panel to support their student’s development and increase awareness of the benefits of using breathable insulation products in construction.
We highly support education in the sustainable construction sector. Helping shape the future to promote the development of the knowledge, skills, understanding, values and actions required to support and create a sustainable future.
