Hemp Blocks with Masonry

This wall build-up uses high quality sustainable insulation materials to ensure you have an insulation system that delivers fantastic performance and fully utilizes the qualities of Hemp blocks.

This system is specially designed for use in a property that has a masonry finish on the exterior wall. The build up includes a layer of rigid Isolair-Multi boards and a choice of 5 possible types of sustainable and flexible insulation material, which are fitted between the wall studs. Hemp blocks are securely fixed to the frame to give added thermal mass and the interior wall is finished with lime plaster. North Yorkshire mortar is recommended for use with hemp blocks.

The depth of the wall studs and thickness of the hemp blocks can be varied to suit the individual brief for the property. This build up combines all the advantages of timber frame construction with the exceptionally high thermal mass of hempcrete blocks for year round comfort and it is possible to achieve Passivhaus standards with this system because of the use of either hemp or wood fibre insulation and added thermal mass from the Hempcrete blocks.
