Adding hair or fibres to lime backing coats is a simple but vital step in achieving a durable, crack-resistant finish. Acting as a natural reinforcement within the mortar, they help hold the mix together as it dries, reducing shrinkage and limiting the formation of cracks. This is particularly important on lath, in thicker applications, or where backgrounds are irregular or prone to movement.
